The Wabash Lights

The Wabash Lights is an independent 501(c)3 non-profit created to design, build, and maintain one of Chicago's largest interactive public arts light installation.

Long strands of commercial-grade, multi-colored, programmable LED lights affixed to the underside of the elevated train tracks on Wabash Avenue will transform an iconic piece of civic infrastructure into a canvas of self-expression for artists from around the world to local students in undeserved communities to pedestrians going about their daily life. Further impact of the light installation includes increased economic development in a lagging area of Chicago's otherwise booming downtown and a greater feeling of safety and comfort along the Wabash corridor. The Wabash Lights represents a seamless integration of art, technology, and civic engagement.
