Skyscraper Innovations: The Construction Materials Defining Chicago's Newest Tall Buildings

Twenty-one years in to the new millennium, innovative construction materials are altering Chicago in noticeable ways. CAC docent Kevin Griebenow highlights changes in skyscraper construction and engineering tied to recent material breakthroughs.

Join Chicago Architecture Center for a deep dive into how several tall buildings constructed in Chicago since 2000 have been influenced by innovations in concrete, steel, other metals and glass. We will dissect the facades and structures of these buildings to better understand how various material elements come together to allow the design of tall buildings.

This program is supported by a gift of the Gary family in memory of Myra Gary and in honor of the Docents’ 50th Anniversary
