Improv 201 - Scenes

Description: This class focuses on the fundamental elements of scenic improv including idea generation, finding the game, and heightening. Learn how to play with a scene partner, use the environment, and sustain the relationship. Prerequisite: Improv 101 or the equivalent.

Times/Days: Mondays 6:00-8:30 pm (4/1/24-5/20/24)

Class Length: 8 weeks; 2.5 hrs. per week

Teacher: Jessica Mitolo – Originally from Youngstown, Ohio, Jessica Mitolo is a Chicago-based director, performer and teaching artist. Jessica teaches improvisation and sketchwriting to students of all ages and skill levels and recently returned from teaching Second City’s training programs in Jordan, Romania, and China. In fact, Jessica has trained aspiring performers in over 10 different countries including Lebanon, Slovakia, Poland, Germany, Bulgaria, Hungary, and Czech Republic. She has directed more than 40 productions, including MY AMERICAN COUSIN at Silk Road Rising, VISPETTA: A COMMEDIA DELL’ARTE PRODUCTION at Italian American Theatre Company of Chicago, MEAT CUTE, and NOSTALGIA SUCKS: BUT IT USED TO BE AWESOME! Jessica was a participant in LaMama International’s 2017 Directing Symposium as well as The Lincoln Center’s 2018 Directors Lab.
