Where to Go for National Tequila Day in Chicago

Posted  5 years ago  in  Eat & Drink, Trending

It’s time to celebrate summer and National Tequila Day on Wednesday, July 24. While there are plenty of places across the Chicago Loop to kick back and wet your whistle with a tequila cocktail, we’ve rounded up the best ways to celebrate this day.

Take a Cocktail Class at The Common’s Club

The Commons Club’s lead bartender Becky Dorsen will be teaching a hands-on large-format cocktail class for $35. Want to learn how to make a classic margarita or a paloma? Well, you’re in luck! The class will be an intimate group of six, and each attendee will have the opportunity to learn how to make two large batch format cocktails with one specific spirit—tequila. Each attendee will sip on cocktails throughout the evening, while nibbling on light bites. All participants will leave with drink recipe cards and a Virgin Hotels Chicago serving ware for attendees to use at home for their next party or get-together. Learn More

Check Out Mi Campo Tequila Chef Tasting and Pairing

Join City Winery Chicago on the Riverwalk for a Mi Campo Tequila Chef Tasting and Pairing event on Tuesday, July 30. Tequila Mi Campo is a modern expression of the centuries-old art of tequila making. This tasty tequila rests in French oak wine barrels to achieve the ultimate smooth finish. This ticket will include a four-course tasting menu with Mi Campo Tequila cocktails paired with each course. Learn More

Sip on Atwood’s Margaritas

This is a love story: For four generations, the Sauzas and the Cuervos, titans of tequila, had battled for the agave market and literally fought in the streets. In 1927, fate brought a Sauza son and a Cuervo cousin here to Chicago, where they met and wed. Though their union ended much better than it did for Romeo and Juliet, or even Tony and Maria, it did not end the feud. So may National Tequila Day be the perfect occasion to build bridges, mend fences, and celebrate love for each other as much as for blue agave. Join Atwood for $7 margaritas in the bar all day and find your perfect match. Learn More

Experience The Palmer House Hilton’s Private Label Beverage Program

The Palmer House's private label beverage program highlights two tequila collaborations. First, the Herradura Double Barrel Reposado Tequila collab began in 2014. Curated over several years, the unique tequila is designed specifically for an elegant, smooth sipping experience, yielding delightful complex tones of cooked agave, dried fruits, and sweet brown spice.

Crafted in 2017, the Palmer House private label Patron Anejo Tequila created in Atotonilco, Jalisco, Mexico, sips smoothly with a nice mix of mild spice and oak. It also tastes excellent in premium cocktails such as the Cucumber Cilantro Margarita—Palmer House Patron anejo tequila, Cointreau, lemon, simple syrup, cucumber, cilantro—currently available at Lockwood Restaurant & Bar. These two flavor profiles were crafted in conjunction with master distillers and can only be found at the Palmer House. Learn More
