3 MIN READ – AIDS Foundation Chicago (AFC) invites you to Show Up and Show Out at the 32nd annual AIDS Run & Walk Chicago on Saturday, September 30 at Soldier Field. This annual event is the Midwest’s largest gathering of the HIV community, where participants raise awareness and funds for those affected by HIV and AIDS. Since its inception, more than 24,500 participants have converged to get moving against HIV/AIDS, raising $6 million to battle the HIV epidemic. Funds support over thirty CommunityDirect partner agencies that provide essential programs and services for those living with or vulnerable to HIV and are actively working Getting to Zero, a state-wide initiative to end the HIV epidemic in Illinois by 2030.

There are several ways to participate in AIDS Run & Walk Chicago, including:

  • Register here for the event as a 5k walker/roller ($30), 5k runner ($40), or 10k runner ($40). Participants receive their own fundraising page, an event t-shirt, and access to all on-site amenities. Use the code LOOP5 during checkout to receive $5 off your registration.
  • Volunteer for AIDS Run & Walk Chicago! The efforts of over 200 volunteers make this community event possible. Sign up for a slot here.
  • Donate to support health equity and justice at org.
  • Follow AIDS Run & Walk Chicago on Facebook and AIDS Foundation Chicago on Instagram to stay in-step with the latest Run & Walk news.

This year’s theme is “Show up, Show Out,” designed to encourage the Chicagoland community to show up and show out as their most authentic self to mobilize for equity and justice for individuals who are living with or vulnerable to HIV/AIDS in Illinois. The future in which people living and vulnerable to HIV or chronic conditions will thrive is possible. This year’s theme, Show Up, Show Out pushes the community to be there for each other and live authentically—especially as the country sees an increase in hateful rhetoric ad legislation towards the LGBTQ+ community.
