2 MIN READ – After over a decade of memorable moments, The Auditorium's event formally known as Devil’s Ball transforms into a new fundraising event, The Bea Hive Bash on Friday, June 6. All the fun that made our summer event a success will be a part of crowd-funding competition and best party of the summer.
Let's Celebrate the Summer of Love!
We're traveling back in time to honor a pivotal year in The Auditorium's history: 1967—the rebirth of our historic theatre. This triumph would not be possible without the incredible leadership of Beatrice Spachner, who initiated a campaign to restore the theatre to all its former glory and save it from demolition!
On June 6, you're invited to The Bea Hive Bash - a 1967-themed celebration! This exciting new event will be the culmination of an ongoing crowdsourced competition to raise revenue for The Auditorium’s mission — restoration of the building, artistic excellence presented on our stage, or community engagement and outreach programs.
Held on our iconic stage, the event features creative cocktails, tasty bites, an exclusive silent-auction, and a live performance by the acclaimed Beatles cover band, Britain’s Finest! Join us in raising a glass to 135 years of music, art, and our Queen...Bea.

Bea Spachner, the Woman Behind “The Bea Hive”:
In the decades since its 1889 unveiling, The Auditorium was a wellspring for the finest artistic programming, a glittering jewel in one of the world’s greatest cities. But by the 1960s, The Auditorium had fallen into disrepair and was in danger of being demolished. A handful of visionaries recognized the promise this once-grand venue contained. These civic leaders were led by one woman, Ms. Bea Spachner, who oversaw a monumental campaign to help restore The Auditorium to its former glory.
Driven by Bea’s infectious energy, the restoration work progressed unabated and The Auditorium was slowly transformed. Finally, on a triumphant night in 1967, The Auditorium was officially reborn and reclaimed its position of prominence in the worlds of arts, culture, and architecture. The Bea Hive is a tribute to our history. It is a tribute to our rebirth. And it is a tribute to our Queen Bea.
