FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | Feb. 25, 2021

CHICAGO—The COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc on businesses throughout the city for the past year, and the Loop has been particularly hard-hit as office workers and tourists continue to stay home. Restaurant operators and downtown leaders are hopeful that Choose Chicago’s Restaurant Week, March 19-April 4, will offer a much-needed boon to struggling Loop establishments.

“Restaurant Week offers the perfect opportunity to take a moment and remember your favorite Loop lunch spot, or your favorite place to grab dinner before a show, or the restaurant you’d always recommend for happy hour,” said Chicago Loop Alliance President and CEO Michael Edwards. “We’ve been collecting data on a monthly basis, and the numbers are still pretty grim. Pedestrian activity on State Street in the Loop is down by about 70 percent compared to last year. The Loop’s storefront economy cannot be supported by residents alone. This area is set up to serve 370,000 workers, many of whom have been working from home for the past year to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. But if we want our favorite spots to be here on the other side of this pandemic, we need to support them now however we can.”

Chicago Restaurant Week has become a staple in the city, but many have wondered how it might adapt to the unique challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, in addition to dine-in menus for restaurants with indoor and outdoor service, you'll be able to order takeout and delivery from special prix fixe menus. These menus are set at $25 for brunch and lunch, and $39 and/or $55 for dinner (excluding beverages, tax, and gratuity).

Chicago Loop Alliance has created an online resource featuring Loop restaurants participating in Restaurant Week. Check out the listings below for highlights.
