FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | AUG. 31, 2021
CHICAGO—Chicago Loop Alliance is announcing the lineup for the Sept. 5 Sundays on State event, taking place from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on State Street from Lake to Madison. Sundays on State is an open streets celebration of arts, culture, active recreation, food, drinks, shopping and more that is free and open to the public. Anyone participating in Active Transportation Alliance’s Fifth Third Bike the Drive from 5:30-10 a.m. along DuSable Lake Shore Drive can head over to Sundays on State and enjoy the open street. After this weekend, only one Sundays on State event remains, on Sept. 12. Those who register to attend Sundays on State at LoopChicago.com/Sundays will be automatically entered for a chance to win a $1,000 Loop staycation package.
“One of the core aspects of Sundays on State was to provide an open streets feel to one of the most iconic streets in Chicago, so that people can walk, cycle, skateboard, scoot or roll down the middle of the street with no cars in the space,” said Chicago Loop Alliance President and CEO Michael Edwards. “It is a happy coincidence that our Sept. 5 event corresponds with Active Transportation Alliance’s Fifth Third Bike the Drive, a staple event for Chicago’s cycling community. We hope anyone who participates in Bike the Drive takes some time to head over to State Street and keep the fun rolling.”
The Sept. 5 Sundays on State event will feature about 115 on-street activations throughout the day. These activations were submitted by community members and organizations from all over the Chicagoland area. Sept. 5 will feature the following list of activations, plus even more surprises. The event’s schedule, participants and acts are subject to change. Visit LoopChicago.com/Sundays for the most up-to-date details.
