FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | July 23, 2020

CHICAGO—In order to serve Loop businesses and consumers during the rapidly-changing landscape of COVID-19, Chicago Loop Alliance has created an online tool that tracks what’s open in the Loop, with up-to-date details on business operations and tips for how to safely enjoy all that downtown has to offer. It can be found at www.loopchicago.com/whatsopen.

“Throughout COVID-19, we have acted as a resource for our member businesses as well as for the folks who patronize those businesses, and now this online tool streamlines the need-to-know information about what’s open in the Loop,” said Chicago Loop Alliance President and CEO Michael Edwards. “Foot traffic and parking volumes are up by more than 30 percent since March’s stay at home order, so we know people are gradually returning to the Loop to work, shop and visit attractions. We want to make sure they know ahead of time what to expect.”

The online tool breaks businesses down into the following categories: hotels, restaurants, retailers, tours and attractions, museums, and public spaces. There is also a section detailing the safest ways to get to the Loop, and what safety guidelines to keep in mind for each.

Additionally, Chicago Loop Alliance has begun compiling “Loop Deals” on its website at www.loopchicago.com/loopdeals. Up-to-date free stuff and other great discounts are available for dining, lodging and more.
