Stand Up Comedy

This foundation course provides prospective comics (and armchair comedians!) with the confidence and skills they need to pursue Stand Up Comedy! Weekly classes focus on: joke structure; development of material; finding an attitude & persona; connecting with an audience; and creating a cohesive set. The class culminates with a performance at The Revival for friends and family.

No experience is necessary.

Times/Days: Mondays 6:00-8:00 pm (4/1/24-5/20/24)

Class Length: 8 weeks; 2 hrs. per week

Teacher: Diya Basrai is a Chicago-based comic and writer. He recently released his first comedy special - “The Yard Presents: Diya Basrai” – on YouTube, which racked up over 100,000 views in its first month. Diya is a headline contributor for The Onion and he draws upon his day job as a scientist to produce Uncontrolled Variables, a popular monthly show that melds science and comedy.
