We love writing. Which is why the National Day on Writing® (October 20) is one of our most favorite days of the year!
Started eleven years ago, the National Day On Writing is an initiative of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) built on the premise that writing is critical to literacy but needs greater attention and celebration.
We are celebrating by offering FREE admission October 20 all day long. Join us and find that writing inspiration you need! We’ll have extra typewriters available for visitors to use, exhibits full of writing advice, and fellow like-minded visitors to bounce ideas off of. Plus, if you tell us why you write and leave a note you’ll be entered to win a museum membership.
If you can’t make it in person, join the celebration online by tagging us and using #WhyIWrite. From the NCTE: “For the past eleven years, hundreds of thousands of people have shared their responses around the theme of #WhyIWrite. Their collective voices are raising the volume on this issue. We must work to ensure that our teachers and schools have what they need to help students develop as writers. Won’t you join the conversation?”
