La Femme Dance Festival

Red Clay Dance Company brings La Femme Dance Festival — a 3-day biennial celebration on March 14-16, 2024. The event features choreographic works done by women of Black/African Diaspora.

The 2024 festival kicks off with a VIP Opening Reception on Thursday, March 14 at 6 p.m. at the Arts Club of Chicago featuring a fireside chat with legendary Emmy-nominated choreographer and dancer Fatima Robinson, a luminary in the realms of hip-hop and popular music choreography. She will be hosting a Q & A for professional dancers at Red Clay Dance Company's Center for Excellence. This will take place on Friday, March 15 at 12 p.m. The festival closes at Harris Theater on Saturday, March 16 at 7:30 p.m. The Saturday evening performances include a Chicago premiere of Portraits in Red by Paris-based choreographer Wanjiru Kamuyu. Two world premieres will be presented, Unconditional Conditions by founder and artistic director Vershawn Sanders -Ward and Her Womb: Crucified, Conceived, Crescent, Congo...The Gathering by guest choreographer Michelle Gibson.
