The Chicago Architecture Center (CAC) is hosting a panel discussion and U.S. launch for Thomas Heatherwick’s book, Humanize: A Maker’s Guide to Designing Our Cities, on November 8th. With offices in London and Shanghai, Heatherwick Studio is a multifaceted design firm lauded far and wide for award-winning projects like Little Island in NYC and Coal Drops Yard in London that have transformed forlorn urban areas into electrifying places. The discussion will delve into contemporary building design and how the structures and spaces we make can either nourish our senses and psyche or sap them. The panel will also explore the importance of collaboration in bringing more beauty, individuality, and humanity to cities, identifying opportunities right here in Chicago. The program is presented by Heatherwick Studio, in association with Clayco, Shapack Partners and the Chicago Architecture Center.
