The report tracks COVID-19 positivity rates, pedestrian activity, parking volumes, hotel occupancy, number of office workers on-site and more. Office occupancy, pedestrians, and CTA ridership all recently hit their highest-measured rates since the impact of the pandemic when compared to the same period in 2019.
2 MIN READ – On December 7, Time Out Chicago released their Best of the City Awards for 2021, and Chicago Loop Alliance’s Sundays on State was named the Best New Event of the Year! Sundays on State saw Chicago’s most iconic street, State Street, closed to traffic from Lake to Madison on select Sundays during the summer and transformed into an open street full of surprises.
2 MIN READ – The City of Chicago announced on November 18 it is upgrading signage in the Downtown Pedway, the first step in a comprehensive program to improve the wayfinding for the system of underground tunnels that is used by tens of thousands of pedestrians each day during the winter season.

The Chicago Loop Alliance Foundation is pleased to announce that its “Maskerade” Gala presented by Pressure Washing Systems grossed $150,000. Funds raised will support public art projects and events in the Loop in 2022. Past examples of Chicago Loop Alliance Foundation initiatives include Sundays on State, ACTIVATE pop-up alley events, mural projects, The Gateway and more.
