The Loop’s Comeback explored at Downtown Futures Series

As the weather warms, and the city and state continue administering thousands of COVID-19 vaccinations per day, Loop data like pedestrian activity, parking volumes, CTA ridership, office human occupancy, and hotel occupancy are all on the rise. DCASE announces public engagement phase of “Chicago Monuments and Public Art Project”

3 MIN READ — The City of Chicago, in partnership with the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE), Chicago Park District (Parks) and Chicago Public Schools (CPS), today launched the Chicago Monuments Project website at chicagomonuments.org, kicking off the public engagement phase of the Chicago Monuments Project that will conclude in April.

Report finds pandemic plummeted Loop pedestrian activity in 2020

3 MIN READ – Chicago Loop Alliance today released a report on Loop pedestrian activity throughout 2020, showing a decline of 58 percent for the year. Data is also delineated for important time periods, like the state’s stay at home order, the summer’s bouts of civil unrest, and changing regulations throughout the year. And the report found a 39 percent decline in vehicle activity on State Street in the Loop during 2020. View the full report here.
