Government Affairs

Our government affairs committee remained vigilant on nearly two dozen issues at the local, county, state, and federal level, including:

  • Investigating expanded micro-mobility to the Loop with additional scooters
  • Creating a working group for a Loop-wide Business Improvement District (BID)
  • Supporting an enhanced metropolitan mobility authority and funding for CTA’s looming fiscal cliff
  • Successfully advocating to stop the GSA buildings’ demolition
  • Advocating for national legislation on office-to-residential conversion
  • Alerting constituents to economic and community impacts of federal enforcement agencies in Chicago and the Loop

Other planning and advocacy projects and initiatives included:

  • Serving as a delegate for economic development and downtown place management internationally
Planning and Advocacy

Chicago Loop Alliance staff spoke on panels regarding the best practices for downtown’s future, marketing and communications, successful placemaking initiatives, and more. Staff also participated in conversations on the state of downtowns with various cities and countries around the world, including San Francisco, London, Beijing, Bangkok, Washington, D.C., and others.
