Chicago Architecture Center

The Chicago Architecture Center (CAC) is the city’s new all-in-one architecture experience: a museum with two floors of exhibits and a gateway to more than 85 boat, walking, bus, bike, and L tours.

The Chicago Architecture Center is open daily from 10am-5pm. Please note, in accordance with the most recent CDC and Cook County Department of Health advisory all staff, guests and volunteers are required to wear masks when indoors. This includes in our Center, anytime a walking tour goes indoors, and in the enclosed salon area onboard the vessels of Chicago’s First Lady Cruises.

Opened to the public in 2018, the Chicago Architecture Center’s (CAC) riverfront location is in the heart of the city, where Michigan Avenue meets the Chicago River, featuring nearly 10,000 square feet of exhibition space filled with super-sized models—and views—of iconic skyscrapers. Center exhibits focus on Chicago’s diverse neighborhoods, housing types, leading architects and future projects, and include the largest scale model of the city, with more than 4,200 miniature buildings, interactive touchscreens, and a cinematic backdrop animating key moments in its history.

Explore the prodigious and provocative career of one of Chicago’s great architects in the Center’s newest exhibit. Helmut Jahn: Life + Architecture surveys over 20 designs by the Jahn. Photography, models and sketches bring his buildings to life, illuminating his innovative design process and his unrelenting pursuit of excellence in all aspects of his life. Life + Architecture is on view through October 2021.
