Chicago hotel occupancy surpasses record high

2 MIN READ -- The weekend of June 2-4, Chicago set an all-time record for total hotel rooms occupied and hotel revenue, thanks to record-breaking attendance at the ASCO Annual Meeting, three days of Taylor Swift concerts at Soldier Field as well as the James Beard Foundation Awards, hosted at Lyric Opera.


On Friday and Saturday, Chicago averaged 44,383 hotel rooms occupied each night. This is an all-time record and 5.4% higher than the same period last year. Hotel revenue from Friday and Saturday nights totaled $39 million, also an all-time record and 20.9% higher than the same period last year. An average of 96.8% of Chicago’s total hotel inventory was occupied each night. 

Choose Chicago also recently reported that tourists are back. In 2022, Chicago saw nearly 49 million domestic and international tourists -- 60% more than in 2021. Major conferences and events like NASCAR, NeoCon, SailGP, and the 2024 Democratic National Convention are choosing Chicago as their destination to gather the world's leaders in every major industry.
