My Block, My Hood, My City

Whether it's the youth in our public schools, the community leaders on the block, or the small businesses that make Chicago run, My Block, My Hood, My City strives to help people, no matter what.

Founded in 2015 by Jahmal Cole, My Block, My Hood, My City is a registered 501(c)(3) non-for-profit organization dedicated to inspiring youth, empowering communities, and building a better world one block at a time.

Their youth investment begins with the Explorer's Program which partners with schools throughout Chicago to provide students in under-resourced communities with after-school programs that challenge them to step outside of their neighborhoods and enjoy activities focused on vocation/education, arts expression, culinary experiences, and recreation.

The work extends beyond youth initiatives to the blocks and neighborhoods that make our city great. They believe that the health of our communities begins with civic engagement, resource sharing, and showing up for your neighbors. In that spirit, wethey partner with Block Club Captains throughout the South and West Sides of the city to provide material guidance and fiscal support in hopes of reinvigorating blocks and reinforcing the pillars of safe and healthy communities.
