Christkindlmarket Chicago

The Christkindlmarket brings a cherished German & European tradition to Chicago. The city’s most beloved holiday tradition celebrates its first-ever virtual Christkindlmarket “Home for the Holidays''.

Rooted in the German tradition, the Christkindlmarket is well known for its traditional candy cane striped wooden huts, festive shopping options, international delicacies, hot spiced wine (Glühwein), fine German beers, hand-crafted ornaments, and family fun. Admission is free and open to the public.

Recognized by Travel & Leisure Magazine, USA Today, TripAdvisor, and 10Best as one of the best holiday markets in the world, the Christkindlmarket Chicago opened in 1996 and has grown to be one of the most cherished Chicago holiday traditions. Returning to Daley Plaza after a virtual experience in 2020, the Christkindlmarket Chicago at Daley Plaza will celebrate its 25th year as both an in-person and virtual market.
