The Design Museum of Chicago worked with students enrolled in One For One to create the graphics. The process began by students creating a rendering of the original marquee using a piece of dotted grid paper. The Design Museum of Chicago then translated the rendering to a digital image, zoomed in, added detail and translated it to a striking blue, white and yellow color palette. The results are graphic representations of iconic marquees.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChicago is widely recognized by its magnificent and impactful theatre marquee signage,\u201d said Tanner Woodford, founder and executive director of the Design Museum of Chicago. \u201cWorking with Chicago Loop Alliance and brilliant students enrolled in One For One, we captured this spirit by abstracting Loop-based theatre marquees.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chicago Loop Alliance is the sole service provider for Special Service Area (SSA) #1-2015, which covers State Street from Wacker Drive to Ida B. Wells Drive. Part of its responsibilities include managing the banners on State Street, and past campaigns have included 2018\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/loopchicago.com\/es\/in-the-loop\/the-shape-of-chicago-john-masseys-1968-banners-revisited-takes-over-state-street\/\">\u201cThe Shape of Chicago: John Massey\u2019s 1968 Banners Revisited,\u201d<\/a> an initiative that celebrated the city\u2019s Year of Chicago Youth, and 2017\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/chicago.curbed.com\/2017\/6\/30\/15903216\/chicago-loop-alliance-public-art-banners\">Bob Faust-designed series<\/a> paying homage to the Loop\u2019s iconic public art, which celebrated the city\u2019s Year of Public Art.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have been pleased to celebrate the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events\u2019 \u2018Year of\u2019 initiatives with creative banner programs, and we\u2019re so excited to pay tribute to the Loop\u2019s incredible Theatre District this year,\u201d said Michael Edwards, Chicago Loop Alliance president and CEO. \u201cWe see every day what a huge impact theater has on making the Loop a vibrant destination for residents, workers and visitors alike\u2014our <a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Arts-in-the-Loop-Study_4.9.18-FINAL.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2018 Arts in the Loop Economic Impact Study<\/a> proves it.
