"I’m thrilled to bring my 10 years' experience in architecture-focused public programming to the CLA," says Keleman. "Together with the board, stakeholders and partners, I hope to refresh the ACTIVATE series by amplifying the hardworking, sometimes hidden corners of the Loop such as alleys—those places of cultural and practical importance that play such a vital role is shaping the feel of downtown Chicago. I want participants to feel the 'alley-ness' of alleys in a surprising, experiential and exhilarating way."

"Kate has a great balance of creative project management experience and urban design sense we feel can take our placemaking activity to the next level," says CLA President & CEO Michael Edwards.

Kate Keleman draws upon her passion for people and places to develop surprising and engaging multidisciplinary public learning projects focused on architecture and design. Kate led public programming for the 2015 Chicago Architecture Biennial, North America’s largest survey of contemporary architecture, which attracted more than half a million visitors. The Biennial’s 70+ public programs engaged more than 14,000 people in learning about architectural ideas and our built world. Prior to the Biennial, Kate developed numerous exhibitions, web projects, and events as a curator at the Chicago Architecture Foundation.
