The Loop's Newest Pop-Up Shops are all about Great Design
Chicago Design Museum (ChiDM) has collaborated with local artists and designers to bring a series of design-oriented pop-up shops to the Chicago Loop in 2017. The Chicago Design Market, located on the third floor of Block 37 Shops on State Street, houses five connected pop-up shops that offer everything from prints by Chicago’s street artists to minimalist fashion.
The market, which opened in July, will keep the pop-up feel through December 2017 with new participants rotating in every one to three months. Current shops include:
Galerie F is Chicago’s first concert poster and street art gallery. Located in Chicago’s historic Logan Square neighborhood, it specializes in silkscreen gig posters, art prints, and street art.
CHCG is a Chicago-based fashion brand focusing on minimalist designs made from the highest quality materials. The SS 17 Cotton Collection, featured at Market, fuses urban industrial influences with progressive high fashion to create a clean and casual style.
Aviate Press believes in long lasting friendships, inside jokes, and love letters. They are dedicated to keeping snail mail alive because of the power of a handwritten card. Their art, paper, and lifestyle products begin with Ava's witty sense of humor and self taught artistic style.
mercer & winnie is all about style that rolls wherever your day takes you. From karate in the garage to brunch with friends and right on into happy hour. We know you don't slow down, it's time your wardrobe kept up.
ChiDM's Great Ideas of Humanity connects contemporary artists and designers with important thinkers, in order to create an advertising campaign that engages the general public in cultural discourse. The series has recently been exhibited in Hong Kong and Chicago.
