Loop Chicago

The Loop's Newest Pop-Up Shops are all about Great Design

Chicago Design Museum (ChiDM) has collaborated with local artists and designers to bring a series of design-oriented pop-up shops to the Chicago Loop in 2017. The Chicago Design Market, located on the third floor of Block 37 Shops on State Street, houses five connected pop-up shops that offer everything from prints by Chicago’s street artists to minimalist fashion. The market, which opened in July, will keep the pop-up feel through December 2017 with new participants rotating in every one to three months. Current shops include:

Cards Against Hummanity

The Cards Against Humanity Pop-Up Shop is the card game company’s first offline store. It sells Cards Against Humanity products and a collection of games and comics they sell through their shipping company, Blackbox. The shop also features a curated selection of books on Chicago’s culture and artistic community. Feel free to stop by and enjoy their seating area to relax, read, and play games with friends.

You Are Beautiful

You Are Beautiful is more than a little sticker, it’s an idea. It’s a way to brighten someone’s day, a way to pat a stranger on the back, a way to remind ourselves that even when things aren’t going great, it’s ok. This store features all current You Are Beautiful products, including, of course, the little metallic sticker that started it all.

The Colossal Shop

In The Colossal Shop you’ll find fun things for creative people: well-designed, thoughtful, and surprising objects that will make you laugh, raise your eyebrows, smile, take a break, put on your thinking cap, or spark an idea—maybe all at once!

Fourneau Bread Oven

The Fourneau Bread Oven is a patent pending, cast iron bakeware device that will help you make artisan quality bread in your home oven. It was funded on Kickstarter, and designed and made by Strand Design, a Chicago based design studio. Strand is committed to quality, functionality, and making things that bring people joy.

SAIC whatnot Collection

For a decade, students from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) have exhibited work in Milan during Design Week. From September 5th to October 12th Chicagoans will have a unique opportunity to purchase objects from the whatnot Collection.
