Sharpen Your Cooking Skills at Macy's Culinary Studio

Located on the seventh floor of Macy’s State Street is a beautiful 4,200 square-foot, state-of-the-art culinary studio. Until recently, the space was reserved for private events, but cooking classes are now open to the public. Learn how to create everything from decadent salads to salsa while sharpening your cooking skills in the process.

Our team had the opportunity to participate in the studio’s Cooking with Beer class featuring the Chicago-based Empirical Brewery. Founder of Empirical Brewery, Bill Hurley, opened the class with a mini-lesson on brewing and pairing food with his beers. Executive Chef Stephanie Kuti created a three-course meal utilizing a different beer for each course, including a delicious espresso chocolate cake with beer-infused icing.

While classes are open to all levels, this is a very hands-on experience. Executive Chef Kuti and her team gently guide the class, but students will chop, slice, measure, and mix their way to an impressive meal. The two-and-half-hour experience culminates into a delicious shared meal with your fellow chefs. While you may be cooking with 15-35 other chefs, there is always plenty of food!

Upcoming classes range from Margaritas to week-night meals. For more information on Macy’s Culinary Studio visit http://111events.com/studio/.
