Hotel Indigo, celebrity chef coming to the Loop
Crain's Chicago Business is reporting on a major hotel and restaurant coming to the Loop.
Under plans unveiled today, Hotel Indigo–the boutique brand of InterContinental Hotels Group PLC–plans to occupy the long-vacant building located at 168 N. Michigan Ave following a $30 million redevelopment of that structure. Four stories will be added to the 12-story tower, which will also be topped with a 5,000 square-foot rooftop bar.
Sources also suggest that celebrity chef David Burke will open his second Chicago restaurant in the basement and ground level of the hotel, with a yet-to-be-selected operator for the rooftop bar.
The hotel and restaurant will open by early 2014.
This marks the second new hotel concept coming to the East Loop in the next year. British-baesd Virgin announced plans in 2011 to open its first hotel in the Old Dearborn Bank Building at 203 N. Wabash Ave.
