Buck's 200 N Michigan Avenue Rental Tower to Begin March 2014

As I reported back in July, serious testimony of new construction plans emerging around North Michigan Avenue had our ears pricked here at CLA.

Well, it looks like The John Buck Company is moving one of them forward.

As Curbed Chicago reported last week, a proposal was given by the company for the 515 ft., 432 rental unit tower (pictured above), designed by bKL Architecture. The proposal included a timeline for site preparation and demolition as soon as December 2013 with construction beginning March 2014.

Buck hopes that this development with create a “catalyst for transformation” on a somewhat underdeveloped intersection on Michigan Avenue.

John Buck built his career in Chicago, and shares responsibility for many buildings on Wacker Drive, including 200 South Wacker.

From a Chicago Loop Alliance perspective, this kind of development is a step in the right direction, given the Loop’s ever-increasing status as Chicago’s premier neighborhood in which to live, work and play.
