Block Thirty Seven apartments announced; details and closures
Hundreds of new residents will soon be calling the Loop “home” thanks to Los Angeles-based real estate firm CIM Group. The company has secured the initial permits for the construction of a new 34-story, 690-unit apartment tower situated on top of Block Thirty Seven. At its completion, the tower will be the largest by-unit count apartment building in the central business district and biggest rental structure since Alta and K Station in 2010.
The construction will cause temporary rerouting along Randolph, Dearborn and State streets, potentially affecting your normal commute. Beginning September 13, 2014 through July 2016, the impacts are as follows:
Beginning September 13, 2014
The southern parking lane and an additional drive lane on Randolph Street from State Street to Dearborn Street will be closed through July 2016.
Beginning September 19, 2014
There will be a barricade walkway on Randolph Street, with a portion of State Street and a portion of Dearborn Street also affected. It is expected to be in place through July 2016.
Beginning September 29, 2014
Two additional lanes on Randolph Street will be closed due to steel truss installation. They will reopen on November 22, 2014.
Beginning February 2015
The barricade south on State Street and south on Dearborn Street will be temporarily extended through July 2015.
Stay tuned for updates on this project from Chicago Loop Alliance.
