August 2012 Loop List

Ten suggestions for making the last month of summer one to remember. Our August Loop List is full of great ideas all around the city of Chicago!

1. Go to a Festival
Italian Village Chicago is hosting two great festivals for the end of summer: Tomato Fest this August and Ferrari Festival on Sunday, September 9th.

2. Get Glamorama-ed
Macy's Glamorama on Friday, August 10 is the most spectacular fashion show and party of the month, featuring performances by Robin Thicke and Karmin. The event benefits the Ronald McDonald House.

3. See a Film
The Gene Siskel Film Center of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago has a variety of films playing daily, ranging from animated films to movies making their Chicago premiere.

4. Join Luminocity
Willow Chicago is hosting Luminocity: a series of events focusing on social justice issues. Sign up to volunteer, see a documentary showing, or attend a forum.

5. Hear Music in the Park
Purchase tickets for My Morning Jacket & Band of Horses, coming to Pritzker Pavilion at Millennium Park on August 22.

6. Be the Office Hero
Ordering lunch in? Try Alonti Catering Cafe. There's no minimum order and the online ordering process is easy.

7. Volunteer
There are dozens of opportunities to give back with WITS - Working in the Schools. The open house on August 29 is a great way to explore the volunteer programs.

8. Sip Tea
Escape the heat for a little afternoon tea in the lobby of the Palmer House from 2 - 4 pm daily. Mini sandwiches and desserts accompany your tea of choice. Call for reservations.

9. Buy Half-Price Tickets
Have a show you've been wanting to see? Hot Tix has weekly discounted tickets to Chicago favorites such as Blue Man Group and Second City.

10. Bike the City
Join Active Transportation Alliance on Sunday, August 16 for the Four-Star Bike Tour that explores Chicago's vibrant and diverse neighborhoods.
