Advisory: State Street to be resurfaced this fall

For the first time since the 1990s, ’that great street’ is being resurfaced this fall. Get the inside scoop at a special community meeting hosted by Chicago Loop Alliance and the Office of 42nd Ward Alderman Brendan Reilly on Wednesday, August 27, from 8 - 9 a.m. at the Gene Siskel Film Center, 164 N. State St.

Work, which includes grinding, paving and restriping, will begin in September. The project will encompass eight blocks of State Street, from Wacker Drive to Van Buren Street.

To keep the public informed and alerted to issues related to this project, Chicago Loop Alliance is assembling representatives to present the details of the work and answer any questions about the potential impact on businesses and properties. Among those who will be on hand for the community meeting are Dan Burke, Deputy Commissioner/Chief Engineer, Chicago Department of Transportation; Jim Dillon, General Superintendent, Bigane Paving Company; and Martin Stern, Chairman of the Board, Chicago Loop Alliance, and Executive Vice President, U.S. Equities Realty.

The meeting is open to the public. Registration in advance is encouraged, but not required.
